Letters to 6.25 Veterans

On June 9, 2023, retracing the footsteps of history, which remains a remarkable memory cherished by both the United States and South Korea, an expression of gratitude and love took place.

The students of Grace International Academy(GIA) wrote thank-you letters to deliver their gratitude and respect to the veterans who fought for South Korea on 1950 June 25. These letters have been a network between veterans and the younger generation of Koreans to convey our thoughts about their courage and empathetic hearts. It was an opportunity for the students to deeply think about Veterans’ feats, through Chairman Lee’s brief introduction of how the Veterans came to South Korea without any hesitation and fought for the small nation with courage.

Not only with words, but students have expressed their hearts through drawings. GIA students have decorated the envelope with drawings that show the influence of the feat of Veterans.

Students have been thinking about the true heroes for them. As if to prove that, while writing letters, students were able to talk about the 6.25 war specifically, addressing its influence, challenges, and help from other countries, feeling deep gratitude for their services and developments they can utilize and enjoy.

Hyein Grace Kang, another GIA student artist, shared her perspective,
"I drew the back of the veteran to highlight the hardship and loneliness they might have felt coming to an unfamiliar Korea."

The GIA students showed gratitude and respect toward the Veterans through their drawings of military boots, the Rose of Sharon, the Korean Peninsula, and Veterans. Conveying how South Korea could develop wonderfully with Veterans’ help. Also, highlights that they won’t forget them, but respect and remember Veterans throughout their lives.

This endeavor by GIA students, expressing their gratitude and respect through letters and artwork, symbolizes the maintenance peace of in Korea by Veterans. Also, this made a great contribution to ties between South Korea and the United States.
