2023. Fund Raising for Pakistan & India

On September 11, 2023, GIA Baccalaureate team came together to support Indian and Pakistani students in need. A teacher from Pakistan working at GIA Elementary School visited the GIA Baccalaureate and shared stories about the students she had been helping for many years. It became apparent the GIA Baccalaureate students faced significant challenges, such as not having enough to eat and having to work long hours each day. This heartwarming encounter moved the GIA Baccalaureate students to take action and raise funds to assist these students in need.

Many of the students, who typically snacked at nearby markets, happily purchased these delectable items. Some went above and beyond by making additional donations to the cause.

From September 12 to 15, a GIA cafeteria was set up, with Student Council President Hyunmin Park taking charge of cooking a variety of tasty treats, including dalgona (Korean sugar candy), ramen, chicken, egg sandwiches, Korean grain drinks, iced tea, tteokbokki, sausage-tteok skewers, and more.

On September 13, a GIA Baccalaureate pop-up store was organized, where the students brought items they no longer needed. A wide range of goods was available, including soccer shoes, trumpets, lamps, books, and board games.

Lastly, on the final day, the GIA orchestra team, consisting of Haneul Jang, Joshua Kim, Jisung Lee, and Katrina Lee, hosted a charity festival to celebrate and express gratitude to all the donors.

Over the course of these four days, GIA Baccalaureate students raised a total of ₩1,200,000 won (equivalent to $870 in dollars), which was subsequently sent to centers and schools in India and Pakistan. This experience inspired them to look beyond themselves and take passionate action to help others in need around the world.
